Honor Roll

To paraphrase economist Peter Drucker:

"Leadership is offering a voice that lifts a person's vision to higher sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond normal limitations."

I especially like the opening portion of Drucker's quote because everywhere within the School of Management, I hear voices. I hear Dean Assad assert our goal to achieve greatness by infusing leadership development themes throughout the MBA curriculum. I hear Tom Ulbrich, executive director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, proclaim the CEL program's goal to become a world-class center. Our vision is, in fact, set to higher sights and the common thread of our voices is "leadership excellence."

It's an exciting time to be affiliated with the University at Buffalo in general and the School of Management in particular. The actions of the school mirror the actions of the university at large, as expressed through UB 2020. We are not just teaching "leadership" but providing it as well, and all of Western New York will benefit as our efforts focus on positive change for the region.

All of this is taking place in a period of financial crisis when, extraordinarily, individual and corporate philanthropy to the school is increasing.thanks to the generosity of those listed on the accompanying pages. Without you, the levels of excellence we seek for all of our programs will not occur. We thank you now for all you are helping UB and the School of Management to accomplish.
