Alumni Spotlight – Gary Steszewski ’84

Steszewski

Steszewski

Gary Steszewski ’84 is ready to take his Buffalo-based company, CityMade, to the next level. Founded in 1999, CityMade specializes in gift products focusing on regional favorites. Beginning with “Made in Buffalo” baskets featuring items such as Chiavetta’s Barbecue Marinade, Weber’s Horseradish Mustard and Anchor Bar Wing Sauce, the company has expanded its “Made in” line to feature specialties from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Rochester, Syracuse and Washington, D.C. This year, CityMade will add Boston, Cleveland, New York City, Pittsburgh and Toronto favorites to its product line. To help fund this expansion, CityMade is raising capital through a direct public offering (DPO) of shares in the company. As co-founder and president, Steszewski has seen his company’s revenues double since 2005. “This DPO will be the fuel we need to expand into even more markets,” he says.
